With Dr. Choe and Team,
You're in Great Hands
The most anxiety-producing of nearly all basic dental procedures, the mere mention of a root canal can send patients’ hearts into an uncomfortable place. Here, we are offering a whole other type of root canal experience, one that deals with the situation once decay has reached the nerve of your tooth, but also brings skill, experience and technology together to make this procedure as pain-free as possible. Make no mistake about it: We will take care of your tooth, and you!
Root Canals:
What You Need To Know
Root canal therapy includes removing the pulp tissue (blood vessels, connective tissue, nerves) inside the tooth, cleaning it immaculately, then sealing it somewhat like your dentist would a cavity.
Later, the tooth is capped with a crown that acts to hold together and protect the tooth. These can last for many years and provide a solid option for a healthy mouth.
The most important thing to remember: root canal treatment saves your natural tooth from an infected root canal and prevents reinfection. Your tooth will continue to receive nourishment. Root canals relieve pain and make teeth healthy again. Big positives!
You Might Need A Root Canal If You Have:
- Chipped, Cracked or Broken Tooth
- Sensitivity to Hot and/or Cold
- Severe Pain When Chewing and/or Biting
- Tender and/or Swollen Gums
- Gum Decay and/or Darkening
Are Root Canals Painful?
Root canals are a regular dental procedure the team here at Waterville Family Dentistry does daily. With anesthesia properly administered by a professional, root canals are no more painful than most dental procedures, including getting a filling.
They do often leave patients sore, numb, and mild discomfort can persist for a few days afterward. Then, it shouldn’t bother you again for years. In our experience, putting off a root canal can lead to way more pain than this simple procedure.

I am 53, and I have experienced many dentists in my lifetime. I have hated all of my experiences, so this review is a BIG DEAL because I had to go to Dr. Choe to get 3 fillings done, and he fixed the problem very expediently and with empathy to my nervousness, and I left feeling extremely happy with his results! Dr. Choe is the best dentist I have ever had to see, and I am forlorn that it took so long in my life to actually have a pleasant experience.
